At just nine years old, Rahat gave his first public performance at his grandfather’s death anniversary. By fifteen, he had become an integral member of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s qawwali group and toured the United Kingdom with him in 1985. Alongside group performances, Rahat also began singing solo pieces during concerts.
He made his Bollywood playback singing debut with the song “Mann Ki Lagan” from the film Paap (2003), which marked the start of his successful career in film music.
